Streets in poor condition and poor transportation, causing minors run over in SLP, collective accuses

One day after the accident occurred in 71st street from the colony Old Ranch of the capital of Potosí, where two minors were run over and one of them died after the incident, the group “Pedaling San Luis Potosí”in favor of urban mobility rights, described omissive and negligent to state and municipal authorities.

In a post shared on their Facebook page, the group explained that this type offatal accidentsas well as many others that have claimed the lives of cyclists and pedestrians, occur due to the lack of pedestrian crossings, reduced speeds on streets and public transportation in good condition.

“Each of these deaths is a murder permitted by the negligence and indifference of our rulers,” the publication reads.

They called on the authorities to stop making unnecessary investments in vehicular bridges or overpasses, where they do not guarantee access to universal mobility for pedestrians, people with disabilities or users of alternative transportation such as bicycles, if not only for motorists.

Finally, they pointed out that we must stop blaming the victims, when the street and mobility conditions are not optimal in the municipalities, “the authorities, the media and society in general must stop blaming the victims and recognize that the authorities have blood on their hands. “These are not accidents, they are completely avoidable incidents.”
