The wait of more than eight years for road intervention for the inhabitants of Thames came to an end with the start of work on June 24. The Antioquia Infrastructure Secretariat signed the initiation document for the long-awaited expansion, rectification, paving and construction of key roads in that area of ​​southwest Antioquia, which will benefit nearly 18,000 Tamesians who will use this second stage of the Puente Iglesias–Támesis road.

The project will cover 6.29 kilometers of highway, including the Puente Iglesias, La Ye, Lebanon and La Lorena roads, Marathon, from the sector known as Finca la Luna to Cuatro Esquinas. The improvements will include the construction of a new vehicular bridge at K9+340, 31 Box Culvert-type drainage works and 42 culvert-type drainage works.

Horacio Gallón Arango, Secretary of Physical Infrastructure of Antioquia, highlighted the commitment of the departmental administration since January 1 with the completion of these works that had difficulties and that, routing the route of the roads, together with La María, Carabanchel in El Retirement, this stage continues in Thames.

Given this news, the mayor of Támesis, Juan Pablo Pérez, extended his gratitude to the taxpayers who have financed the project through valuation, as well as to the contractors and the auditor involved. In addition, he emphasized the support of the Government so that the work, which had been held up for 8 years, would become a reality.

The Antioquia Infrastructure Secretariat has consolidated a Departmental Road Plan, which projects the intervention of 3,581 kilometers of roads and an investment of approximately 10 billion pesos during the 4 years of administration. This plan includes the construction of 500 kilometers of footprint and attention to 10,000 kilometers of tertiary roads, with the aim of solving critical points through the construction of retaining walls, drainage works and other necessary interventions.

The work in Thames, whose The second stage, which covers 6.2 kilometers and started on June 24, is expected to be completed within a period of no more than eleven months, with a scheduled completion date of April 2025. and financing amounting to more than 24 billion pesos with the Libano GAP consortium.

During the signing of the contract, Secretary Horacio Gallón, Mayor Juan Pablo Pérez, and Juliana Hernández, former candidate for the Medellín council and representative of taxpayers, among other figures, were present. This project will not only improve road infrastructure, but also represents a significant step for Támesis, betting on the development and modernization of the region in southwest Antioquia.
