Medellin, Antioquia

Given the criminal actions perpetrated by illegal armed groups that are part of the total peace dialogues with the National Government, the Government of Antioquia announced that will report at least 35 ceasefire violations to the ceasefire verification commission.

And the public order situation in several municipalities of Antioquia is worrying, According to complaints from communities, especially from areas in the northeast and Bajo Cauca of Antioquia, where, contrary to the other regions of the department, homicides are increasing.

Given the combats, kidnappings and intimidation of the community by structures such as the ELN, dissidents of the FARC and Clan del Golfo, Governor Andrés Julián Rendón, who has been critical of the negotiations that are being carried out at the dialogue table, has assured that the country is turning back 20 years in matters of public order. Even the previous week he rejected the invitation to social dialogue with representatives of the Government and the Central General Staff of the FARC in Yarumal.

“Unfortunately in many areas of Antioquia and Colombia we are experiencing a movie that seemed to already be from the past. Illegal armed groups and they disguise their work supposedly with a revolutionary touch, but the only purpose they have is to capture illegal income, annoy us and make our lives difficult,” said the governor.

In Remedios, there were recently clashes between the Clan del Golfo and the ELN and dissidents of the FARC, which left 13 illegals dead. In addition, the authorities described the incident as violations of international humanitarian law, the actions of members of the self-proclaimed Gaitanista Army of Colombia, who used a school as a camp to care for those wounded in combat.

In addition, two kidnappings have been recorded in less than 15 days. The first in the municipality of Remedios, where members of the ELN detained two social leaders who will be held in captivity until an alleged investigation is completed, because they would be collaborating with the Gulf Clan, according to what they claimed.

The second event occurred in Segovia, where The Gulf Clan kidnapped two young men from the Rancho Quemado area, a place where he also carried out other illegal checkpoints and detentions of at least 20 people for several hours, according to complaints from the community..
