The KM 0 project aims to strengthen local production in San Antonio Oeste by implementing innovative agricultural techniques. Located in a greenhouse, this project promotes the production of vegetables, mainly leafy vegetables, in order to increase the availability and quality of vegetables, ensuring food security for the community.

One of the highlighted techniques of the project is aquaponics, a system that integrates the cultivation of fish with that of vegetables. This closed recirculation system reuses the water and nutrients derived from the ponds where trout are produced, minimizing the use of water resources and significantly reducing the environmental impact compared to traditional fish farming methods. The objective is to have a commercial production of both high quality vegetables and trout.
This approach not only diversifies greenhouse production options, but also maximizes agricultural productivity in an environmentally friendly and economically viable manner for the region.
The team from the Ministry of Agriculture, represented by Agronomist Lucio Reinoso from the Ministry of Economic and Productive Development of Río Negro, visited the greenhouse in San Antonio Oeste as part of the KM 0 Program, which has already begun to be built and is expected to be completed in the spring. Rocío Fernández, Undersecretary of Sustainable Development of SAO, and members of the Bio Patagonia LTDA Cooperative were present at this activity.
