Chile and Canada will play this Saturday in a true final for Group A of the Copa América 2024. Both teams are in search of a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament, facing each other in Orlando for classification.
While La Roja is coming off a 1-0 loss to Argentina, Canada gave the surprise by narrowly beating Peru. The Americans are second with three points and against Chile they need a draw to advance to the round.
Jesse Marsch, coach of the Canadian team, anticipated what this match against La Roja will be like after the victory over Peru.
“I think it will be another similar match, with very experienced players and a really good team. Very intelligent, very cunning. A great, great challenge. Just as I think Peru played well today, I think Chile will be even better,” Marsch said.
In that sense, the 50-year-old American declared that “there will be a lot at stake for both teams. So I hope there is excitement, that there is a lot of mental strength in the game and we need to recover right now and analyze Chile well to prepare for a very difficult moment.”
“The boys are excited to make history. So that was a great moment. “We had talked about sending a message to make history, to show that we are ready for bigger challenges,” he concluded.

Chileans and Canadians will meet this Saturday, June 29 from 8:00 p.m. (Chile time) at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando. La Roja is obliged to win to qualify for the round of the tournament.
