UPDATE | Traffic will be restored on Route 3 this Thursday at 9 a.m.

According to the National Road news flash, which was published around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, it was reported that on Thursday, June 27, at 9 a.m., traffic will be rehabilitated on the Trelew – Comodoro Rivadavia section of Route 3. after the preventive cut that kept truckers and travelers waiting to continue their trip, at the southern access to the Valletta city, due to the accumulation of ice and snow on the road.

Traffic authorization is for all types of vehicles and in both directions.

It was also reported that the stretch of road between Pampa Salamanca and Cañadón Ferrays still has areas with ice and snow on the shoulders and “drivers were asked to proceed with extreme caution.”

Earlier in the morning, the press officer of Vialidad Nacional, Marcelo Yapurain dialogue with FM EL CHUBUTindicated that the teams were working to clear the road. “Two snowplow trucks, with three motor graders, with two loaders, personnel with light vehicles,” he said. “We have really made a significant deployment, machinery and personnel from the Provincial Roads Department have also joined to work with the National Roads Department in this emergency,” he said.

Weather and evacuation of 205 vehicles

In the morning, Yapura commented that “The weather is helping because it’s not snowing, it’s not raining.if we have some moderate wind in that sector.” He recalled that the wind was one of the main complications last Tuesday, beyond the snowfall, since “the intense wind was what caused the snow banks to begin to enter the road again”.

In that sense, he indicated that with the improvement of the climate, At 05:00 they finished evacuating “all the vehicles that were stranded, 205 vehicles, both light and heavy, that were able to leave Route 3“.

However, there are still 12 trucks stranded due to mechanical problems and freezing, which hinders road clearing efforts.

This generated another concern, since “the primary job, in this case, is to clear the road and then clear the shoulder, to avoid the snow drifts. So that task is now hindered by the presence of the trucks. What “They are working together with Civil Defense to be able to remove them from the road,” he stated.
