The Minister of Security and Justice, Marcelo Ramón Domínguez, together with the Undersecretary of Penal Policies, Javier Salgadothe General Director of the Penitentiary Service, Enrique Torresand the Undersecretary of Sports, Claudia Vasquezyesterday led the inauguration of the sports playground in Women’s Prison Unit 4.
The facilities have a volleyball court, basketball court and sports equipment. It was a joint effort between the Salta Penitentiary Service and the Public Works and Sports Secretariats of the Province.
In this framework, Salgado highlighted the importance of the articulated work between the areas of the Provincial Government for the completion of the work that will allow promoting sports and integration practices for women who are in the context of confinement, and continue strengthening the penitentiary policies of resocialization of people deprived of liberty.
For his part, Vásquez stressed that “Sport is a fundamental tool for reinserting oneself in our society and we have examples of athletes who, upon regaining their freedom, became Argentine boxing champions and today each one has his own profession.”
