According to international media, a Paris court ruled this Wednesday on the validity of the international arrest warrant issued by France against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for accusations of complicity in war crimes during the Syrian civil war.
French judicial authorities issued international arrest warrants in November against the president; his brother Maher al-Asad, commander of the 4th Armored Division; and two Syrian generals, Ghassan Abbas and Bassam al-Hassan, accusing them of complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity, including participation in a chemical weapons attack in 2013 against Damascus suburbs then occupied by the opposition.
