The electoral court of Buenos Aires granted provisional legal status to La Libertad Avanza (LLA) in the province of Buenos Aires to Karina Milei and, after the division of the libertarian block in the legislature, Sebastián Pareja, a Buenos Aires political organizer of the President’s sister, was appointed president.

The ruling is a key step towards the recognition of the libertarian party led by Karina throughout the country. The ultimate goal is to win the provincial legislature in 2025 and the governorship in 2027, according to the libertarian leader.

The decision signed by Judge Alejo Ramos Padilla, resolved not to give rise to the opposition presented by the liberal leader of the province of Entre Ríos, Carina Ivascov, who claimed to be “the intellectual owner of the La Libertad Avanza brand at a national and international level.” .

In return, it recognized the provisional legal-political status as a district party, with exclusive rights to the name La Libertad Avanza for the Promoting Board and Pareja as president; vice president: Alejandro Carrancio, and General Secretary, Miriam Niveyro, among other authorities.

In this regard, the leader of the libertarian bloc issued a harsh warning to those who want to join the libertarian space: “La Libertad Avanza of the province of Buenos Aires is organized and that organization is strictly respected. Whoever confronts that organization is wrong, is lost, is confusing the path.”

Pareja was also appointed by Karina as territorial head of LLA in the province of Buenos Aires. As she explained, the party structure “has a sectional coordinator, who is the one who administers the section, and has designated local coordinators and coordinators in each of the 135 described.”

Although they are willing to open the doors to leaders who want to “embrace the ideas of freedom,” they make it clear that it is a “pre-established organization,” that is, they will not allow bidding or internal bids.

Who is Sebastián Pareja?

The person chosen to lead the LLA space in the province of Buenos Aires is Sebastián Pareja, advisor during the last presidency of Carlos Menem. He also ran for president in 2003, when the Riojan decided not to run in the second round. He was also an official during Mauricio Macri’s administration.

He is a man of the old style of politics, and Karina Milei trusts in him to manage the LLA block in the province. Pareja points out that Milei’s appearance on the scene changed the rules of the game and put the focus on two fundamental axes: “speaking the truth” and “giving answers”, something that he says the old politics was denying to society.
