The Chamber of Deputies approved and turned into law this morning, after a 13-hour session, the Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines promoted by the Government of Javier Milei.
The vote ended with 147 votes in favor, 107 against and two abstentions.
The initiative La Libertad Avanza was supported by the PRO, the bulk of the UCR, most of Hacemos Coalición Federal, Innovación Federal, the Civic Coalition and other minority forces.
The Union for the Homeland bloc, the Left Front and the two socialist deputies from Santa Fe voted against.
In addition, the lower house approved the reinstatement of the fourth category of the income tax.
This chapter, which requires a new tax on wages exceeding 1,800,000 pesos, was approved with 136 votes in favor, 116 against and three abstentions.
Until a few hours before the vote, the ruling party had doubts that it would get at least half plus one of the votes of the deputies present, but the dialogue blocs adjusted the pegs and contributed the will that was missing to complete the number.
The restitution of profits is part of the law on Fiscal, Palliative and Relevant Measures.
Meanwhile, the Government also achieved in the House of Representatives the reduction of the tax on Personal Property
The ruling party obtained the final approval of the reform of the Personal Property Tax, which reduces the rates of this tax.
The initiative received 134 votes in favor, 118 against and three abstentions.
The fiscal package, which includes, among other points, money laundering, a monotax reform and a tax moratorium, was validated with 144 positive votes, 108 negative votes and three abstentions.
Previously, the Government had celebrated the final sanction of the Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines.
