In a joint operation between the troops of the Sixteenth Brigade of the National Army and the GAULA of the National Police, the capture of Diego Raúl Patiño Rojas, alias ‘Gedioco’, was achieved in the municipality of Recetor, Casanare. The arrest was carried out in compliance with a search warrant issued by the Prosecutor’s Office.
During the procedure, a grenade, ammunition, a cell phone, a motorcycle and pamphlets belonging to illegal armed groups operating in the region were seized from alias ‘Gedioco’.
Patiño Rojas is accused of conspiracy to commit crimes for the purposes of extortion, manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of weapons and ammunition. According to intelligence information, he would be linked to extortion activities on behalf of the ELN and the 28th Front of the FARC simultaneously.
In addition, alias ‘Gedioco’ is accused of extortion and threats against the mayor and former mayor of the municipality of Chámeza, Casanare.
The subject was placed at the disposal of the competent authority and presented for prosecution. His capture was legalized and he currently remains under a restrictive measure of intramural freedom.
It is worth mentioning that, at the time of the capture operation, there was a strong reaction of disagreement on the part of the detainee’s family, who rejected the allegations made by the authorities, despite the forcefulness of the evidence presented.
