Havana, June 27 (ACN) After visiting the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud this morning, Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, arrived in Nueva Paz this afternoon , in Mayabeque.

This is the fifth municipality in this western territory that the president has visited during his work tours since the beginning of the year. Previously, he was in Güines, Madruga, San José and Santa Cruz del Norte, the Presidency highlighted on the social network X.

The Head of State began his tour of the areas of the usufructuary Roberto Domínguez, who looks after 33 hectares, dedicated mainly to sweet potatoes.

When exchanging with the producer, Díaz-Canel learned about the workers’ salary, which is around 500 pesos a day, while recognizing the results that allow them to achieve profits.

At the end of 2023, more than 29 thousand quintals of sweet potatoes were harvested there.

Another point on the tour was the provincial Meat Company, where the picadillo is made, which, as part of the basic basket, is distributed to the children of Mayabeque and Havana.

The President was able to confirm that the productive linkage developed there with other forms of management will allow them to make better use of the installed capacities and diversify the offers.

Later, in a conversation with residents, Díaz-Canel discussed the objectives of these visits and called on them to continue looking for alternatives to move forward in solving the difficulties.

The transformation cannot only be structural, it also has to be social and spiritual, said the president.

On Thursday morning, the President visited several entities on the Isle of Youth, where he called today to better exploit endogenous potential for local development.
