The victim of the hitman attack was identified as Julián Alberto Rendón, 39 years old, who was attacked by hitmen who shot him twice yesterday afternoon in events that occurred in the tolerance zone of the municipality of Quimbaya.
According to the police, the murdered man had annotations in the SPOA for homicide and prison escape, a fugitive since September 2023, so they do not rule out that the motives for the homicide are related to this matter, there are already 79 murders this year in Quindío.

The Criminal Investigation Section of Quindío, under the coordination of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia, dismantled the Common Organized Crime Group “La 48” where seven search and seizure operations were carried out in the cities of Medellín and Armenia.
Among the five captured are the aliases “Yoni”, “Dieguito”, “Larry”, “El Calvo” and “El Abogado”, by court order. These arrests were made for the crimes of conspiracy, homicide, trafficking, manufacturing and carrying firearms.
The commander in charge of the Quindío Police, Colonel Gustavo Chaparro explained that, according to investigations, this criminal group has been committing crimes for approximately a year with the intention of taking control of illicit businesses. Initially it was concentrated in communes four and eight of the municipality of Armenia, as well as in the La Isabela neighborhood of Montenegro, with the intention of expanding throughout the department.
The criminal structure would be led by the alias “Fénix”, who while deprived of liberty meets members of the criminal gang “La Inmaculada” in Valle del Cauca, where they establish a criminal friendship with the aim of obtaining firearms and ammunition.

The Quindío Police captured four of the members of the criminal gang “the rapids” responsible for 12 vehicle thefts in the city of Armenia in the form of haloing valued at 560 million pesos, which altered their identification systems ( chassis, engine and plate), were marketed through informal raffles and sold in parts, this was done in different departments from where the theft was carried out.
Among those captured are alias “El Flaco”, “Lucho”, “La Gorda” and “El de la Silla de Ruedas”, who have records in the Oral Accusatory Penal System for crimes such as: homicide, negligent injuries, qualified theft , drug trafficking, personal falsehood and trademark falsehood.

Sergeant Marcos Urrea Galeno of the city’s volunteer fire department said that they responded promptly to the request in order to avoid damage.
He stated that they have the corresponding suit to capture the bees and safeguard them, which is why he urged the community not to manipulate them. He indicated that in general they have been supporting different services that are between 3 to 4 weekly to provide security to the community threatened by this proliferation.

A debate was held at the departmental assembly to learn about the current status of the project to generate seismic threat assessment instruments for the development of risk reduction processes.
Interior Secretary Juana Gómez acknowledged the importance of not only the delivery of the study but also its ongoing implementation to verify the risks in the different municipalities.
He said that six accelerographs will be installed in order to identify earthquakes and generate a more effective response in dealing with a potential emergency.
He highlighted that in a joint effort with the University of Quindío and the Disaster Risk Management Unit, they will deliver the study 100% to the city of Armenia in the month of December and to the rest of the municipalities in June of next year. He added that the budget is 6.8 billion pesos through the general royalty system.
