If you are currently unemployed, there are several benefits available that you can receive to cover your expenses while you search for a new job opportunity.
In that sense, Chileans who are unemployed have the option of receiving Unemployment Insurance, which is administered by the Unemployment Fund Administrator (AFC).
This is an option that protects workers affiliated and regulated by the Labor Code, in the event of becoming unemployed due to resignation, dismissal or termination of contract.
In this case, the funds accumulated in an Individual Severance Account (CIC), financed with 3% of the taxable remuneration paid monthly, can be used.

Beyond being unemployed, The central requirement of the CIC would be:
Have a minimum number of paid contributions, 10 for an open-ended contract and at least five for fixed-term or job-based contracts.
That being so, The latter are counted from the affiliation or the last payment of the Insurance until the end of the work, and may be continuous or discontinuous and even under more than one employer.

It should be noted that membership in the Insurance of Dismissal is automatic for those over 18 years of age hired from October 2, 2022, provided they are governed by a contract in accordance with the Labor Code.
