Loan case: the journalist murdered in Corrientes had denounced the detained commissioner

Journalist Griselda Blanco, who was murdered in 2023 in Corrientes, had demanded justice by stating that Commissioner Walter Maciel, arrested in the Loan case, remained in office despite the fact that an officer had reported him for sexual abuse.

It was on May 20 of last year when the journalist was found strangled in her home in the town of Curuzú Cuatiá and a businessman with whom she had a romantic relationship is detained in the case.

In the last few hours, Griselda’s name resonated again due to a publication in 2022 that she made on her Facebook account in which she expressed her anger because the commissioner remained in his position despite the abuse complaint against him.

“Diana is a police officer. She is from Curuzú Cuatiá, but she was working in Monte Caseros. No one showed solidarity with Diana Yardín. Everyone is covering up for this individual, Commissioner Maciel. They have not yet removed him from the force as they did with her,” said Blanco.

And he continued: “We only ask for justice. Let the prosecutors intervene, please. “We can’t have a rapist on the force.”

The complaint was filed in 2019 by the officer and would also include alleged threats and cover-up maneuvers, a crime for which he is now detained in the case of the child who has been missing for 15 days.

With the viralization of said lawsuit, the attorney general of the Corrientes Judicial Branch, César Sotelo, stated: “I know that there was a complaint for abuse in 2019. We should ask the person who places officials with specific complaints in certain places.”
