The legislator and regional president of the Socialist Party met with the mayoral candidate of the “Contigo Chile Mejor” coalition Ernesto Velasco (PR), and together with different candidates and leaders of the PS, they supported the radical militant in his race to stay with the building seat of La Serena.
In Manouchehri’s words, “the candidate represents a change in the right direction for a relevant commune in our region. His track record and his capabilities support him, which is why today the Socialist Party is formalizing its support for Ernesto Velasco.”
In turn, the candidate for mayor of the regional capital valued the support of the deputy and mentioned that “it is a party with history and an important part of the Serenian cultural roots. “I greatly value the support that the community gives me.”

Regarding his intentions if he becomes mayor, Velasco said that “it is essential to work together with the city of Coquimbo and that together we can be a great metropolis. We must improve connectivity in the area, lead in tourism and also improve public spaces. Let us remember that La Serena is a university city, which has more than 40 thousand students.”
According to the radical activist, one of his priorities will be to strengthen citizen security and the recovery of public spaces, in addition to the cleanliness and beautification of the city.
It should be noted that the municipal elections will be held on October 27 and, so far, Ernesto Velasco is the only candidate registered with SERVEL, after winning the primaries on June 9, with more than 36% of the votes.
In turn, the regional president took the opportunity to present a young group of candidates for councilors who will represent the PS in La Serena: Camila Matte, Álvaro Valero, Rocío Lecaros and Matías Espinoza. Along with them, the president of the Communal of La Serena, Rosa Carvajal; the Core Pedro Valencia; and the communal president of the Radical Party, Jerónimo Clavería, attended.
