In a significant step towards the modernization of urban transit, The City Council of San Salvador de Jujuy discussed yesterday with municipal officials the details of the new tender project for the metered parking system in the city. The Secretary of the Treasury, Lic. Agustina Apaza, and the Secretary of Public Services, Guillermo Marenco, met with the councilors to resolve doubts and receive contributions.

The President of the Deliberative Council, Lisandro Aguiar, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration of the officials and highlighted the importance of the project, “we are working on the tender document for metered parking. Although the current company provided good service, it does so under a precarious permit. Our objective is to convene national companies to guarantee an efficient service that improves the organization of traffic in our city.”.

Aguiar explained that the implementation of parking rates in the central area seeks to encourage vehicle rotation and avoid prolonged parking., thus facilitating access for citizens, and maintained that “we want to incorporate new technologies that offer modern services. “We have had excellent collaboration from the councilors and we hope to advance the sanction of the ordinance in the coming weeks,” she added.

Lic. Agustina Apaza, Secretary of Finance, emphasized the importance of offering an orderly and accessible service, “our participation in this meeting was to clarify all the councilors’ doubts before issuing the final document. “We want to ensure an efficient system, easy to use and as economical as possible for citizens,” said the secretary.

For its part, Guillermo Marenco, Secretary of Public Services, stressed the Executive’s commitment to technological improvement of the parking systemand mentioned “we provided a detailed report on the history of the metered parking system. We clarified all the doubts of the councilors and We reaffirm our position to continue advancing in technological improvements that optimize urban mobility“Marenco explained.

Besides, Marenco stressed that these advances are crucial for the organization of traffic, especially in the city center.“The goal is to facilitate mobility and avoid long-term parking in conflictive areas. We want to discourage excessive use of parking in the downtown area and promote alternatives such as walking or using public transport,” he concluded.

With this meeting, the City Council takes a step forward in the modernization of the parking system, seeking to offer technological solutions that benefit all citizens of San Salvador de Jujuy.
