Thanks to the agreement signed between Minister Mauricio Lizcano and his Brazilian counterpart, Juscelino Filho, the subfluvial fiber optic cable that will link Tabatinga, in Brazil, with Leticia in the south will arrive on July 1.

Telebrás and Internexa to extend fiber optics to Tabatinga, Brazil, and from there deploy it to Leticia. Today we can tell all Amazonians that, with this connection, comes high-speed Internet that will solve the connectivity problem in this regionthrough the expansion of coverage, quality and capacity of backbone networks,” highlighted the ICT Minister, Mauricio Lizcano.

Once the fiber optics arrive in Leticia, it is planned to connect, initially, 9,705 homes in stratum 1 and 2 in the department of Amazonas, of which 8,547 will be in Leticia and 1,158 in Puerto Nariño. This will be done in alliance with the company Internexa, ensuring that the most vulnerable families are the first to benefit.

For the correct development of the project, a Technical Working Group will be created for the planning and analysis of the connection between the two cities. This group will be coordinated by the Secretariat of

Telecommunications of the Ministry of Communications of Brazil and the vice ministry of Connectivity of the ICT Ministry of Colombia. Both countries may invite third parties to be part of this space, ensuring a
broad and effective collaboration.
