W Radio has first-hand knowledge of a letter from the Italian Embassy in Colombia in which it reports that the airline Neos Air will be designated to operate flights on routes between Italy and Colombia.
The document says the following:
“The Embassy of Italy presents its compliments to the honorable Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Protocol Directorate – and is pleased to inform the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) based on current agreements, that the Italian airline NEOS SpA was designated to execute passenger line services on the routes between Italy and Colombia.”
In addition, the Embassy requested that communication be made with the Civil Aeronautics entities of both countries so that this new route becomes effective:
“To this end, this Embassy would greatly appreciate information and the transmission of the aforementioned designation to the Colombian Civil Aeronautics and other possible entities for which the designation is relevant. It is noted that ENAC has already transmitted to the Colombian Civil Aeronautics a letter with the designation that is attached to this Verbal Note.”
The Italian Embassy added that it “takes this opportunity to reiterate to the honourable Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Directorate of Protocol – the assurances of its highest and most distinguished consideration.”
Meanwhile, Aerocivil confirmed that the certification process has already begun to make Neos flights between Colombia and Italy a reality.
However, the aviation authority assured that there is still no date for the start of operations of the flights.
