Bakers punished and driver dismissed due to complaints in Cuba

Several complaints in Las Tunas, Cuba, caused a bus driver to be removed from his position after charging abusive fare prices. Likewise, bakers were sanctioned for bad practices in bread making.

According to reported According to the newspaper 26, the Directorate of the Provincial Integral Company of the Food Industry (EPIA) sanctioned workers who “violated the production process at the La Aurora bakery” by selling the population “very poor quality bread.”

Alberto Fonseca Rodríguez, director general of EPIA, explained that following complaints from citizens, “we carried out controls and the investigations determined that the mechanisms of the sensory evaluation commission, which has the crucial responsibility of evaluating the quality of bread before its sale, failed.”

After the analysis, it was determined that the person most responsible for what happened is the unit administrator. He was the person in charge of alerting the company about the situation.

In this sense, he specified what sanctions were imposed.

“Taking into account the colleague’s work history and the provisions of the legal regulations, a 25 percent deduction was applied from his monthly salary. Two other workers, who due to their duties must check and supervise the work, were given a public reprimand before the collective.”

Likewise, the manager noted that “a public reprimand was applied to the Production and Commercial specialists of the UEB of Las Tunas, as well as its director.” It was considered that “they must have a supervision system that allows them to detect these problems in a timely manner.”

Driver dismissed in Las Tunas for charging excessive prices

The local newspaper also reported the separation of a driver from his job. In addition, the bus lease was suspended for three months. These were the measures imposed by the Provincial Passenger and General Cargo Transportation Company, based on citizen complaints.

According to the complaints, the driver of the bus with code 9011, belonging to the Basic Business Unit of Transportation of the municipality of Jesús Menéndez, demanded a payment of 500 pesos per person from passengers to make the trip from Las Tunas to Bayamo.

“Due to its contribution to the economy, at the end of the sanction the lease contract will be resumed with the commitment, on the part of the partner in question, to cover the Jesús Menéndez-Las Tunas route and to comply with what has been established regarding prices,” announced the director Cardinal Las Tunas.
