A team of officials from the Córdoba Regional Office of the Ombudsman carried out a cleaning day on the beaches of the El Dorado village, in the municipality of Moñitos, where they also offered workshops on the use of recycled materials, with the aim of attracting more tourists.
During the activity, the Delegate of Collectives and Environment and the Delegate of Human Mobility held the workshop “Water is a woman,” aimed at women’s organizations and social leaders. The objective was to empower them so that, through their leadership, they promote the importance of aquatic ecosystems and turn their communities into agents of change committed to the care and protection of the environment.
The group of women and residents then carried out a beach clean-up. During this activity, the importance of the sea as a food pantry and of mangroves, which act as carbon reservoirs and barriers against marine erosion, was highlighted.
Finally, the implementation of sustainable practices in the short, medium and long term, focused on recycling and the use of solid waste brought by the tides, was discussed with the community. This waste can be transformed into productive projects that generate income and attract tourists in the coastal area of Córdoba.
