Although their identities appear in federal and provincial court files from the last 20 years, their names became public in 2020 when an investigation revealed that they were the ones behind a small plane that transported drugs from Paraguay to the province of Santa Fe and crashed in a field in Naré, in the department Saint Justus.
After his fall, the Paraguayan pilot was arrested hours later, Juan Adrián Fleitas Gonzálezand later the ex-policeman, Carlos “Pipi” Maldonado, who helped unload the drugs from the plane and transport them to the city of Santa Fe.

Some time later, the case established that those behind the arrival of the plane had been Lorena Melgarejorepeatedly convicted in the Federal Oral Court for drug cases, and Claudio “Pulga” Cascowith a background in provincial Justice.
Both managed to avoid raids and remain in hiding for more than two years. until a phone call caused an unexpected turn in the lives of the fugitives.
Both Casco and Melgarejo were brought to trial and received harsh sentences in a debate in which investigators revealed the modus operandi of the Santa Fe couple.
