The Association of Brotherhoods of Córdoba held its general election assembly this Tuesday, a significant event in the city’s brotherhood calendar. On this occasion, the senior members of the grouped brotherhoods elected Manuel Murillo Estévez as the new president of the highest brotherhood body, marking the beginning of a new stage for the organization.
Election Results
The only candidacy presented, headed by Manuel Murillo Estévez, received majority support with 46 votes in favor and 4 against, with no abstentions recorded. This solid support reflects the trust placed in Murillo and his team to lead the Association of Brotherhoods in the coming years.
Ratification and Inauguration
After the electoral council, Murillo’s candidacy must be ratified by the bishop of Córdoba, Demetrio Fernández. It is expected that this ratification will be carried out without setbacks, which will allow the date for the inauguration of the new governing board to be set. According to forecasts, this ceremony will take place in the month of September.
Career of Manuel Murillo Estévez
Manuel Murillo Estévez is not unknown in the brotherhood of Córdoba. He has been linked to the Association of Brotherhoods for almost twelve years, serving in the last four years as member of Institutional Relations under the presidency of Olga Caballero. Murillo, a brother of the brotherhood of the Risen One, was the elder brother of said brotherhood between 2012 and 2016, and is currently part of its governing board as a member of charity and culture.
Work team
Murillo has surrounded himself with a trusted team to carry out his mandate. Manuel Bonilla, Cena’s older brother, will be the first vice president and legal person. Bonifacio Gómez will occupy the position of second vice president, in charge of the Glorias. The secretary will be in charge of José Antonio Fernández, elder brother of Buen Suceso, while Antonio Susín, older brother of Las Angustias, will be the vice secretary. Luis Luque will serve as treasurer and Rafael López will be the member of the penitentiary station.

The new team also includes Sarai Herrera, who will repeat as artistic vocalist; Manuel Luque, who will continue as charity vocalist; Rosa Quero, evangelization vocalist; Manuel Díaz, in charge of institutional relations; Manuel López, older brother of Císter, as protocol and promotion vocalist; María Gómez, who will be the youth vocalist; Olga Caballero, who will be in charge of relations with the Cathedral Chapter; and Antonio Jesús García Montes, who will be in charge of communications.
Objectives and Challenges
Murillo’s mandate comes with several challenges and objectives. The new governing board will seek to strengthen cohesion between the brotherhoods, encourage the active participation of young people in the brotherhood environment and promote charity and evangelization. In addition, it is expected that they will continue with the work of strengthening ties with the Cathedral Chapter and the ecclesiastical authorities, as well as with Córdoba society in general.
