Óscar Córdoba: “Colombia is doing well, but we are going to face a Costa Rica that defends itself”

The Colombian National Team faces Costa Rica this Friday, June 26, in its second outing in the Copa América 2024. Those led by Néstor Lorenzo want a victory against the Central Americans that will certify them in the quarterfinals in the Conmebol competition.

Before the ball rolls at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, Gol Caracol spoke briefly with Óscar Córdoba, former goalkeeper of the ‘tricolor’, and he gave his opinion on how he imagines this Group D match against the popular ‘ticos’.

“Colombia is doing well, it comes with a pretty important undefeated record, We are going to face one of the teams that defended itself best in the first match, but we have a very good goal scoring ability.”Córdoba pronounced at the outset.

When asked if, in the event of beating Costa Rica and the Colombian National Team making it to the next phase of the 2024 Copa América, Lorenzo should give a break to several of his stars, including Luis Díaz, the former Boca Juniors goalkeeper asserted that “As well as rest, these players are eager to play against Brazil, and with good performance and good scores, I think the game against Brazil is going to be spectacular for them.”

Finally, Oscar Cordoba responded to the question of which was the best Colombian team, the one led by Jose Pekerman or the one currently headed by Lorenzo, who has been undefeated since he took over as coach.

“What happens is they are different moments, each of them play in different leagues, yes they could be compared, but we will have to wait for the end,” he concluded.
