A 44-year-old man, identified as Alejandro Exequiel Fuga, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for having fired shots with a firearm in the city of Santa Fe.

This was ordered by Judge Pablo Spekuljak, within the framework of a trial of abbreviated procedures that took place in the courts of the provincial capital.

The prosecutor in charge of the investigation is Ignacio Orio, who mentioned that “based on a criminal record, Fuga was declared a repeat offender.”

The crimes were committed around 9 pm on Friday, March 17 last year. Orio stated that “from the house where he lived, located on Santa Cruz passage at 6,000, the convicted man fired a series of shots with a 9 millimeter caliber pistol,” and added that “although they hit near a neighbor, he was not injured.”

“Following the violent situation, several witnesses contacted the 911 Emergency Center, so police officers arrived at the scene,” said the MPA official. “The officers saw Fuga enter the home with the firearm and, minutes later, they arrested him while he was on the roof of a neighboring building,” he specified.

He also said that “the members of the security forces seized the firearm that the 44-year-old man was carrying, since he did not have the proper legal authorization.”

In this sense, he explained that “the pistol was in condition for immediate use and contained two intact cartridges and one in the chamber.”

Fuga admitted responsibility for the crimes of weapon abuse and illegitimate possession of a military firearm. Meanwhile, the Defense accepted the criminal attribution proposed by the Prosecutor’s Office, the three and a half year prison sentence imposed and the decision to shorten the trial procedures.
