The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs (s), Ambassador Rodrigo Olsen, and the Assistant Secretary of State for the Americas of Switzerland, Ambassador Mirko Giulietti, led today the VII Chile – Switzerland Political Consultation Meeting.
On the occasion, key issues for our foreign policy were addressed, such as human rights and commitment to democracy, and topics such as scientific cooperation, the environment and culture were discussed. In addition, the dialogue made it possible to highlight other bilateral matters of common interest, such as our mutual vocation for peace, reflected in the recent participation of President Gabriel Boric in the Summit for Peace in Ukraine, held in Switzerland.
Likewise, the recent signing of an amendment protocol that modernizes the free trade agreement between Chile and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) was highlighted, which represents an opportunity to enhance the relationship between Chile and Switzerland in commercial matter.
Finally, in the scientific field, information was exchanged regarding scientific diplomacy and our country’s interest in joining as an associate member state of the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN).
