Three indigenous leaders were killed in Cauca in 72 hours: dissidents blamed

In less than 72 hours, Three indigenous leaders have been murdered in the department of Cauca. Two of them were kidnapped before being found dead from gunshot wounds.

There is great concern in the Cauca community about this week, which has been quite tragic for the leaders of the indigenous reservations. Since last Tuesday, news has been known about the homicide of this population.

Who were the three murdered indigenous leaders?

The first of them is Florentino Mesa, who was kidnapped by FARC dissidents in Miranda, Cauca, and later appeared dead with several gunshot wounds.

The following case occurred in the municipality of Páez. There, the ancestral doctor Luis Eduardo Vivas was murdered on a road.

And this Friday, June 28, 2024, the murder of another indigenous community member became known, Eyber Danilo Poto Pazú, who had been kidnapped on June 22 in the San Francisco sectorin Toribío. His body was found in Caloto with several gunshot wounds.

Added to these attacks on indigenous communities is the murder of a peace signer in Buenos Aires, Cauca. The indigenous communities have said that All of these violent actions are attributed to FARC dissidents.
