Before the different political leaders of public service of the country and the Caribbean region, the mayor of Santa Marta, Carlos Pinedo Cuello, confirmed that the city has $500 billion to invest in the water and sewerage solutiona basic and structural problem in this northern area of ​​Colombia.

Pinedo Cuello, at the Andesco Congress, also referred to the provision of the Electricity service and its high tariff valueand the challenges and difficulties the city faces in terms of connectivity in rural and urban areas.

He emphasized that during these six months “work has been carried out responsibly on a detailed plan that involves the shortage of supply, the obsolete sewage networks and the high loss that the city faces today with own resources amounting to 500 billion pesos”.

HE ASKED FOR GOVERNMENT COMPLIANCE

He also emphasized that he optimistically trusts the words of the National Government and the Minister of Housing, Catalina Velasco, who preceded the mayor’s intervention, assuring that the city of Santa Marta is among the four cities that are part of the National Government’s strategic project “Drinking water for cities with high water deficit” for a value of 4.5 billion pesos.

We trust that the national government will keep its word and that this 4.5 billion dollar fund will bewhich includes the Santa Marta water solution, is not an unfulfilled promise as previous governments have done,” reiterated Mayor Pinedo Cuello.

On the other hand, he stressed that one of the big problems that destabilizes public order in the district is the aqueduct and energy, which is why the mayor reiterated the importance of the intervention of the National Government and the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (CREG) in the provision of electric energy service and the high tariff value that currently directly affects the city of Santa Marta.
