A serious traffic accident that occurred on Thursday afternoon on International Route 215, which connects the communes of Osorno and Puyehue, has resulted in the death of a teenager and left two other passengers injured.
At around 6:00 p.m., a vehicle impacted at kilometer 39 of the aforementioned routecausing serious injuries to a 15-year-old boy, who was rushed to the Family Health Centre (CESFAM) in Entre Lagos. Despite the efforts of the medical team, the teenager died due to the severity of his injuries. The other occupants of the vehicle, the driver and a 13-year-old boy, suffered injuries of varying severity.
The Lieutenant Nicole Catalan Caroan investigating officer from the Sub-Commissioner’s Office for the Investigation of Traffic Accidents (IAT) and Roads in Osorno, reported that all relevant investigations are being carried out to clarify the causes of the accident. “We deeply regret this incident as an institution. We are currently collecting evidence at the scene of the accident, as part of the planimetric survey and the creation of a photographic set, to establish the root causes of the tragic event.”the lieutenant explained.
The Public Ministry has ordered the investigation, which is being carried out with the help of advanced scientific techniques and the experience accumulated in the IAT Osorno unit, to contribute to the criminal prosecution and determine the origin of the fatal accident.
