Crisis due to poor management at San José Hospital

A report from the Comptroller’s Office details major deficiencies in its accounting management, inventories, hiring and even in its administration, which has seen 22 directors in 25 years.

Hundreds of patients live daily with the deficiencies that the system has dragged on for years. San jose hospitallocated in the commune of Independencia, in the Metropolitan regionand which the Comptroller’s Office revealed through a report.

This document details major deficiencies in its accounting management, inventories, hiring and even in its administration, which has seen 22 directors in 25 years.

“If you reach a position that you know you will be in for a short time, you don’t worry about the future and therefore the results are clear. At the San José Hospital there are no timely investments from 15 years ago”, lamented the director of the North Metropolitan Health Service (SSMN), Antonio Infante.

Furthermore, the inventory carried out for the Comptroller’s Office exposes pulmonary bone machinery, used to evaluate bones and the state of joints, which has not been used for seven years and whose acquisition would be above the 280 million pesos.

Reopened in the late 90s, the San José Hospital attracts patients from eight different communes in the northern sector of the Metropolitan region: Independence, Recoleta, Conchalí, Huechuraba, Quilicura, Lampa, Colina and Tiltil, a total of 1,060,149 people.
