The national deputy for Unión por la Patria, Sergio Casas, spoke with El Independiente and referred to the approval of the Ley Bases, arguing that “this law continues to be harmful and damaging to the Argentine people.” The legislator also responded to the latest publications that the president of the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, Martín Menem, left through social networks. In addition, he gave his opinion on the suspension of the agreement for the reactivation of public road works.

At the beginning of the note, the deputy pointed to the suspension of the agreement between the Nation and the Province for the reactivation of the road work “we have to act based on our convictions and beliefs, based on what our people, of La Rioja in this specific case, that of defending our workers, our Industrial Park,” he stated.

“Unfortunately, Milei’s government does not fulfill anything it says, anything it promised during its campaign. Today we see how they are expanding the income tax, they want to tax profits again when the salary is not a profit, but ultimately, I said that this law, if you can call it that, deals with issues of industry, agriculture, education, and retirees. They never opened a debate, it was always far-fetched,” he said, and stated, “we have not supported this initiative because there is not a single article, not a single paragraph, that benefits the people, the workers, the companies, even the country.”

He also stressed that “the truth is that they have obtained the result of the law, I do not say debate because when they went to commissions they were very brief debates, with limitations on the use of the word, where around 300 articles remained, many have been improved, it is not the same law that came out of the House of Representatives, it had a series of important improvements. In the part of profits, of personal property, it has been included again yesterday in the vote, which in our opinion is wrongly included because it does not have the consent of one of the Chambers, Justice will have to decide.”

“From now on, we hope that they manage, that they demonstrate what they have committed to. Until now, it has been about blaming others. Even so, this law continues to be harmful and damaging for all the Argentine people, which is why we have not supported it,” said Casas.

“I am glad that Martín Menem realizes that La Rioja needs money”

“Disrespecting our Provincial Governor, so that he encourages legislators to vote in exchange for something. I am glad that Martin Menem realizes that La Rioja needs money, but we do not want the money, we want the money from the workers, not from the income tax, we want the money that belongs to the people of La Rioja; La Rioja of 1988 has had one point of revenue sharing taken away, which is included in the previous budget and La Rioja is owed around 100 billion pesos and this Government has not given a single peso to La Rioja,” he said.

And he stated “that he comes to talk to us that he has to give us the money in exchange for that, it is inadmissible, it is a lack of respect,” said Casas.

He indicated that “I have invited him (the president of the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Nation, Martín Menem), to join and to prove that he is from Rioja, and I have given him a copy of my speech so that he can see that his father He also did it with nobility, so that he no longer lacks respect for La Rioja, the truth is that he can say whatever he wants to the legislators, but that he does not lack respect for the people of La Rioja with these pressures and threats.”

Suspension of the signing of an agreement for works

On the subject, the national legislator was blunt in stating that “the signing of this agreement was scheduled 10 days ago, for works that belong to the people of La Rioja, which the Nation has the duty to finish, until when will La Rioja have to be a bargaining chip. We are also Argentines and La Rioja has given its best. The Nation owes the people of La Rioja a worthy recognition, to give what is due to them.”
