If you are unemployed and need state aid, you should know that apart from the Unemployment Insurance (or Unemployment Subsidy), There is the Solidarity Severance Fund (FCS) which is intended for those who meet certain requirements and seeks to guarantee minimum aid for members of the Severance Fund Administrator (AFC).

This offer of aid – managed by the AFC – is included as a important support fund for those who lost their source of employment and exhausted their unemployment insurance resources.

The Solidarity Unemployment Fund (FCS) can be granted in two cases:

  • If the unemployed person does not have sufficient balance in his/her Individual Severance Account (CIC) to finance your expenses during the period of unemployment.
  • If the person has already exhausted the balance of their CIC and needs more resources to finance itself with Unemployment Insurance.

According ChileAtiendethe fund is financed with state contribution and with 0.8% of the employer’s contribution (for those who have Indefinite contract) or 0.2% of the employer’s contribution (if applicable) term contract permanentfor work or task).

Requirements to access the Solidarity Unemployment Fund:

  1. Be unemployed at the time of requesting it.
  2. Having insufficient resources in your CIC to finance payments while unemployed.
  3. Have 10 paid contributions to the Solidarity Unemployment Fund at least in the 24 months (two years) prior to dismissal. Contributions are counted from affiliation or from the last insurance payment until the month prior to the end of the employment relationship.
  4. The last three contributions must be continuous and belong to the same employer.
  5. The employment contract must have ended by expiration of the agreed period, due to completion of the work or service that gave rise to the contract, unforeseeable event, force majeure, establishment or service.
  6. Have an active account in the National Employment Exchange, along with accepting the job and training opportunities that are available on the platform.
  7. Have 8 paid quotes (any type of contract), if you have lost your job in an area declared in a Constitutional State of Exception due to Catastrophe, areas affected by a natural disaster or complex health alert.

If you meet these requirements, You can access the AFC website and click on the “Virtual Branch” option to enter the RUT and Unique Code (or AFC Code).

The procedure is also available at the AFC offices, presenting the current identity card and the settlement or document that proves the loss of work.

A person can access the Solidarity Unemployment Fund up to 10 times in five years.
