In police cars and threatening with their weapons, at least six police officers simulated raids to steal stashes of drugs. Not only did they use their position as law enforcement officials to enter the force, but they also manipulated public documents to create false court orders.
The evidence of this illegal structure was collected by the Prosecutor’s Office, which this week presented it before a guarantee control judge to be able to charge those six uniformed officers who would have used their position as police officers to intimidate, threaten and, in addition, traffic illicit substances in the Caribbean, especially in Magadalena.
With the evidence in hand, the investigating body charged them with eight crimes: crimes of falsification of documents, illegal use of uniforms and insignia, rape in another’s room by a public servant, abuse of authority due to failure to report, abuse of public office, association to the commission of a crime against the public administration, receipt, manufacture, trafficking and carrying of weapons, and ammunition of restricted use by the Armed Forces.
The uniformed officers are: mayors Gabriel Ochoa Arias and Arlinzon Córdoba, and patrolmen Eduardo Ochoa Arias, Larry William Berg González, Víctor Alfonso Acevedo Rodríguez and Sammy Joel Palacio Mendoza. The six uniformed officers, who were captured in Medellín (Antioquia) and Santa Marta (Magdalena), did not accept the charges and, by order of a guarantee control judge, must comply with a measure of deprivation of liberty in their homes.
