The rapid reaction of the National Police officers who were alerted about the case resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old teenager, identified as the alleged murderer.

A street fight in the Coffee Park sector of the city of Armenia cost the life of Maycol Estiven Gómez Valencia.

The 21-year-old was attacked with a knife, causing irreversible damage to his body.

Although ‘Pepa’ or ‘Foster’, as the man was popularly known, was quickly helped and transferred to the emergency area of ​​the San Juan de Dios hospital, unfortunately the doctors there could do nothing to save him and his death was reported a few minutes after he was admitted.

The incident of blood, which occurred during the night hours of last Thursday, June 27, was immediately reported to the National Police, so agents from the quadrant quickly attended the scene and responded to the situation.

According to the official report, thanks to this timely reaction, the uniformed officers were able to locate the alleged aggressor, who was a 16-year-old teenager, who was identified by some witnesses, so they proceeded to immediately arrest him.

They thus arranged for him to be brought before the relevant competent authority for the proper judicial process against him.

For its part, the scene of the events was duly cordoned off to protect possible evidence that would later be analyzed and compiled by units of the mobile laboratory of the Criminal Investigation Section, Sijín, who subsequently headed to the aforementioned medical center to carry out the inspection. technique of the corpse and thus transfer it to the morgue of the municipality of Calarcá.

Gómez Valencia was a well-known fan of the professional soccer team Deportes Quindío and was part of the group Inminentes Comuna Ocho, which is part of the popular Artillería Verde Sur, AVS, fan group.

For the love of her team, ‘Pepa’ traveled to the different stadiums in the country where the Quindío team went to play its matches, to bring that cry of encouragement together with her friends.

He was a very active fan who never missed any event related to the group, including the Wednesday meetings in the Corbones neighborhood and the Thursday meetings in the park where he was fatally wounded.

Relatives and friends remember him as a happy, friendly young man who was always aware of the people around him and who is survived by a small son who was his adoration.

Maycol Estiven was born in the Quindian capital and spent his entire life there, where he worked in various jobs.

Judicial authorities have indicated that they are making progress in their investigations to try to clarify the motives that led to the fatal attack, which was initially said to have been due to personal problems between the victim and the perpetrator.

Yesterday, Friday, June 28, in the morning, officials from the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences performed the appropriate autopsy on the body, waiting for his loved ones to complete the claim procedures later in the day so that they can bid him farewell.
