In the Nueva Esperanza area, jurisdiction of the municipality of Tierralta, uniformed officers of the Police and the Army found a bag that contained Two American-made AM-15 semi-automatic assault rifleselements that, according to the authorities, were being prepared by the Gulf Clan to attack the civilian population and the Public Force.
Three people were arrested in the operation, two of whom have criminal records for homicide and conspiracy to commit crimes, financing of terrorism and criminal groups. These individuals respond to the aliases of ‘El Puerto’ and ‘El Morocho’and apparently they had been in the criminal organization for five years.
During the operation, two American-made 5.56 mm caliber rifle-type firearms were seized,valued at more than 30 million pesos, suppliers, two motorcycles and three cell phones.

Rifles have a special feature which allows them to adapt different types of cannon, and which allows the use of 9 mm, 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm caliber ammunition.
According to the investigations, those accused today intended to sell the long-range weapons to the substructure Javier Yepes Cantero of the Clan del Golfowith interference in the Alto Sinú subregion of Córdoba.

In Córdoba, so far in 2024, 1,243 people have been captured for different crimes, 72 of them, for illegal possession of firearms and 48 members of criminal gangs. Likewise, 96 illegal firearms have been seized.
The three subjects and the seized material were made available to the competent authorities to continue with the corresponding investigations and judicial processes.
