Chivas parade, 35 years of history • La Nación

Yesterday, the traditional Chivas Departmental Parade and Competition of the HJ Doble K radio station took place with a lot of color and joy. It is already 35 years of history, paying tribute to these passenger vehicles that travel and integrate the rural sectors with the urban areas in the region.

19 ‘ladder’ or chivas buses, which, with products from the countryside, special decorations with musical instruments and typical products of the region, toured the streets of the city in the XXXV Chivas HJ double K Parade, bringing joy and pride to all attendees, who felt identified and united with this event that brought back memories of their places of origin for many.

The vehicles were decorated to match the occasion, well ‘engallados’ (as some of the drivers said), with loud horns and loaded with everything they carry from the countryside to the city, such as pigs, bunches of bananas, chickens, peasant women with long black braids, baskets of beer and sacks, among other items, these vehicles were adorned with.

The passage of the stair buses was accompanied by musical groups, dance groups, color, tradition and folklore, which adorned their route from the Mother Earth monument and continued along Circunvalar Avenue to 21st Street.

La Toñita de Campoalegre took second place in the Chivas Contest.

The winners

The qualifying jury made up of: Mayerly Carvajal, Carlos Alberto Cuellar Medina and Rubén Darío Silva Gómez, who acted as jury in the XXXV Parade and Departmental Contest of Chivas HJ Double K, once the event was over and the scores were reviewed, determined the following ruling :

First Place: The Patron Saint of Argentina. She was awarded a prize of $6,000,000.

Second Place: La Toñita de Campoalegre. He won $3,500,000 in prize money.

Third Place: Mi Pueblito Campesino de El Pital, with a prize of $2,500,000.

It should be remembered that the other participating goats received 1,000,000 pesos for their participation.

The parade, which sparked the interest of Neivans and visitors, received some criticism for its speed and the lack of more participants. In addition, at the end there were isolated disturbances among the public that got out of control.

Another unfortunate fact not only in this parade but in the others is the presence of foam that, although it was announced to be prohibited, was one of the protagonists in the parade.

The positive part: the large audience.
