A funny incident occurred on Friday after the baseball game between Industriales and Santiago de Cuba at the Guillermón Moncada stadium, where the locals left the capital team on the field.

In the midst of the joy of the victory, the wasp, mascot of the Santiago team, went out onto the field to celebrate and his enthusiasm was so great that when he threw himself onto the field home he was left headless.

A video shared on Facebook by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta shows the moment when the man inside the costume runs euphorically around the baseball field while encouraging the crowd to applaud.

Suddenly he started running towards the home and he threw himself forward, with such momentum that the big red head came off. Without wasting a second, he picked it up and put it back on, amidst the laughter of the audience.

The funny event added to the general euphoria that reigned in the stadium after the spectacular victory of the Santiago team in the ninth inning, thanks to a home run by Harold Vásquez.

The hosts defeated the Lions 8-6 and remain undefeated in the tournament.

Both teams will play their next matches at the Latinoamericano stadium in Havana starting on Sunday.
