Las Tunas.–The 195th anniversary of the birth of the bard Juan Cristóbal Nápoles y Fajardo, El Cucalambé, is the main motivation with which, from yesterday until July 2, this territory hosts the Cucalambeana Day.

Recognized as the supreme celebration of peasant traditions in Cuba, the event includes the usual spaces for décima, poetry, oral narration, theoretical workshops and artistic presentations, which bring together not only local talent, but also recognized figures who, in one way or another, pay tribute with their art to the manifestations born from our fields.

Although the concluding event is the best known nationally and internationally, it is worth highlighting that the Cucalambeana starts from the base, a level at which 176 of these events took place, which, in turn, had their culmination at municipal request.

The Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso Grau, will accompany several spaces, while figures of the stature of José Antonio Iznaga (El Jilguerito de Cienfuegos), María Victoria Rodríguez and Marisol Guillama will grace the shows. Added to them are those already very loved by the Las Tunas public and regular visitors to these days, Emiliano Sardiñas, the Poet of the Backpack, and Luis Paz, Papillo.

Once again, the Casa Iberoamericana de la Décima, the Fayad Jamís gallery, the branch of the Nicolás Guillén Foundation and the headquarters of the Hermanos Saíz Association (ahs) and the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac) will serve as secondary venues. while the headquarters continues to be, by tradition and law, El Cornito, the place where the ruins of what was the house of El Cucalambé are located.

Also, the street that bears his name in the provincial capital will host several of the activities planned in the program.

The theoretical event Diversity, Essence and Identity, the delivery of the Cucalambé awards, the Catauro de la décima, the Justo Vega National Repentismo Contest, and the La Flor de Birama contest, add to the brightest moments planned for the Guateque Mayor .

Las Tunas is celebrating, a celebration of homage and traditions, that is, for the children of this land, the most familiar of its cultural events: the Jornada Cucalambeana.
