Salta will host the WRO, the Robotics Olympiad

The final instance will be held on September 6 and 7, at the Convention Center.

The WRO is an international competition where teams of children and young people between 8 and 19 years old will measure their knowledge, applying solutions to real-world problems through educational robotics. Each year this competition has a different theme with challenges that adapt to the ages of the participants.

Its purpose is to expand the knowledge of children and young people through the exploration of robots and robotic systems, developing projects that help them solve problems.

Develop 21st century skills in children and young people; among which critical thinking, innovation, research, cooperation and communication stand out. And increase the vision of children and young people to become future scientists, engineers, creators and inventors.

Students from public, private and technical schools, workshops, institutes or robotics clubs from 8 to 19 years old can participate in this championship.

To participate in the National Championship in Salta, all teams must compete in regional competitions in each province. The regional competition in Salta will take place between August 12 and 17.

Innovative Futures is a fair of projects that are related to the theme of this season, this year, the theme is “Allies of the Earth” includes the free choice of controllers, sensors and motors. Each team will present its project and prototype of a robot. Not only the solution will be evaluated, but innovation and entrepreneurship aspects of the project will also be analyzed. There are different categories: elementary, junior and senior.

For the more advanced, there is the Future Engineers category, where the challenge is more complex and requires the use of artificial vision cameras for image recognition and the use of various sensors.

Robotic sports are also present in the WRO, this category is called Robo Sport, where a team of 2 robots plays ping-pong.

Finally, there is the Robotic Missions category, which is exclusive to Lego robotics teams. In this category, a robot must move around a board, solving tasks and challenges related to caring for the earth. This category requires a lot of mechanical creativity and strategies to get the best score. Anyone from 8 to 19 years old can participate.
