The rains during the long weekend gave another boost to wheat sowing, which in the central region increased by 23%, according to the latest report from the Rosario Stock Exchange.

These precipitations allowed, for example, the area planted in the north of Buenos Aires to go from 30% to 80%.

The region has already planted 90% of its wheat. June 2024 is ending as one of the six driest Junes in the last 60 years.

Half of the core region ends with monthly records of less than 3 mm when the June average, from east to west, is 35 to 10 millimeters, the report states.

Wheat in Córdoba

According to the BCR, in the west of Córdoba and south of Santa Fe, where planting has already been completed, the increase in area compared to last year is 20 to 40%.

“In a sowing in which the April rains have been key to overcoming the difficulties of a June with almost no water, the environmental sowing conditions have been made the most of. The deep sowing that was carried out in the warm weeks of autumn in search of humidity stands out,” says the report.
