Located on the banks of the Magdalena River, Girardot is located at a relatively low altitude compared to other cities in the region, which contributes to its hot, tropical climate for most of the year. Although Girardot does not experience as marked a rainy season as other regions, in the months of April to November temperatures can be slightly more moderate.
