AN INCIDENT

“Carnivals in Ciego de Ávila ended more than a month ago, however, on the corner of 1st and K streets, in the Alfredo Gutiérrez Lugones People’s Council, the platform that was apparently used in that event still remains. That piece of iron is obstructing passage on that street and, in these times of blackout, until an incident (accident) occurs, cranes, trucks, etc., will not appear to remove said obstacle from the road… why wait for that moment?” José Antonio Sardiñas Falcón, resident on Eladia Street, No. 179, between Martí and Onelio Hernández, in the main city, tells us via email. (MAYRA)

IT IS NOT FEASIBLE, BUT…

To the complaint of Servando Carvajal Moreno, Inmediate attention (May 11), Lídisy Rodríguez Valero, director of the Ciego de Ávila Postal Company, responds that “the current fuel situation makes it difficult to distribute the press on a regular basis. Even when the press is brought to the province of Villa Clara with a delay of three or four days, which is already a problem, we cannot get it to the municipal units, nor can they get it to their assigned units. It is not feasible to transport it by Cuban Railways, since it is an expense that is not planned, in addition, the commercial margin for the provision of the service is much lower than the expense that would be incurred by using this route, without counting the expense for the packaging of the newspapers. Likewise, the aforementioned entity is affected by the energy situation.” (MORGADO)

MORE HAVOC

Those who use 18th Street in the Canaleta district, in the provincial capital – almost essential to access that area – both pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and even vehicle drivers, have to do magic to avoid the puddles that, with the rain, fill the existing gaps in the road, and not fall into them, in addition to avoiding an accident. Although work has been done on this street, it deserves to be completed before the rain causes further damage. (MPM)
