A large drug seizure was made by Carabineros this Saturday in the commune of San Bernardo, after inspecting a truck carrying 22 bags of cocaine hydrochloride inside, achieving the arrest of four subjects.

The procedure was carried out after a complaint from neighbors, who reported the presence of a heavy transport machine in a rural area where this type of vehicle does not usually circulate, specifically in El Romeral Roadnear the banks of the Maipo River.

According to witness accounts, about 15 armed individuals allegedly left the truckafter the driver failed to turn around due to the narrowness of the road. Four of them were captured, while the rest of the gang fled the scene.

The chief prosecutor of the Western Flagrancia Prosecutor’s Office, Patricio Rosasindicated that there was “a significant amount (of drugs) in the truck, which we are quantifying, which will be examined at this time and would correspond to cocaine hydrochloride.”

“It is necessary to determine what its nature is, what its purity or concentration is, as well as the dosage form, which “It is not distributed towards the retail trade of micro-traffic, but rather intended for large-scale traffic.”, he detailed. “The quantification is not over yet. It would be a significant amount and not only drugs have been seized, but also firearms” and cash, she added.

Four subjects arrested

Regarding the detained people, he indicated that “Three of them are Chilean nationals and one is a foreigner”whose identities are being “corroborated.”

For now, The whereabouts of the rest of the band members are unknown. By instruction of the Public Ministry, the proceedings were in charge of the OS7 of Carabineros.
