Through an open letter addressed to the President of the Republic Gustavo Petro Urrego and the Minister of Defense Iván Velásquez Gómez, the governor of Valle Dilian Francisca Toro, asked them for an urgent meeting to address the serious problems of violence and insecurity facing the department. and that have forced the search for contributions from the National Executive, as well as international alliances such as those sought after a recent meeting with senior military commanders of the United States, which was also attended by the Mayor of Cali Alejandro Eder.

The highest authority of the Valley made the call to the National President in order to socialize the realities of the region in terms of security.

“Mr. President Gustavo Petro: united as we have been working for security, from the Valley we ask you to put your eyes on our department and allow us a special audience to address with you and the Minister of Defense, our regional realities in matters of security.

We believe that the situation warrants that all sectors of society should listen to each other, in order to coordinate actions and combat crime.

In this purpose we have joined together with representatives of civil society, the Church, economic unions, senators and representatives to the Chamber, Youth, Women, mayors, merchants, businessmen, the Academy, deputies, councilors and community leaders Afro-descendants, who consider urgent the implementation of a Comprehensive Security Plan for the Colombian Southwest, which is led by you as responsible for national public order.

We are convinced that together we will defeat the criminals. Here we are, President, ready to work together!
