A fire without major consequences that occurred a few days ago in the dining area of the República market forced the Management Unit of the Historic Center to begin a review of the gas installations of all establishments, to prevent risks.
It is unknown whether a similar review will be applied in other municipal supply centers, where cylinders or stationary tanks also operate.
Last weekend, according to some local residents, a gas leak was reported in one of the businesses in the restaurant area that did not cause any damage, but did alert the administration, which in turn reported the case to the Historic Center Management Unit.
Immediate Response personnel were sent to verify and confirm what had happened; as a result, the person responsible for the premises was given a deadline to renew the gas installation.

At the same time, the facility of other food preparation businesses was inspected; so far, no irregularities have been reported.
It is worth remembering that earlier this year, a similar incident occurred, when a tank was filled beyond its capacity and caused a leak that also did not lead to any serious problems.
Also in December 2022, a gas leak incident occurred due to a fault in the filling valve of a stationary tank; On that occasion the market was evacuated, without further consequences.
