Inopia Films presents the Spanish trailer and poster for ‘Playing with fire’suspense thriller directed by Yvan Attal, also one of its protagonists along with Maïween, Guillaume Canet and Marie-Josée Croze.
Inspired by an original work by Éric Aaapus, the film introduces us to Mathieu, who owes everything to his friend Vincent: His house, his job and even saving his life ten years ago. Together, with their partners, they form an inseparable quartet and live a cloudless life on the Côte d’Azur.
But Mathieu’s loyalty is tested when he discovers that Vincent is cheating on his wife. When Vincent’s lover is found dead, suspicion settles in the hearts of the two couples, accompanied by a procession of cowardice, lies and guilt…
In Attal’s words, “What really motivated me to make this film was the desire to have fun with the noir genre, but I was also interested in the notion of heroism. In this era in which everyone pretends to have great morality, but hidden in the anonymity of a screen, anyone can accuse another. Where is the heroism in difficult times? The question is subconsciously in Playing with Fire, when my character wonders if he is up to the task, while everyone considers him good at everything. aspects and faithful both in love and in friendship. What remains of that honesty, of that integrity when an unexpected accident occurs?”.
Attal and Canet had coincided in the filming of the film ‘Cbears of age’in which they both also played leading characters, and they wanted to film together again, so Yvan Attal called him as soon as he had finished the script for ‘Playing with fire’ and Canet did not hesitate to accept it.
Canet points out that “What amused me was that he didn’t want to film himself: He hates it! It’s a feeling I know well as an actor-director when I act in my films: You have such a desire to concentrate on directing that you almost feel trapped by having to act too…”
The film, released in France at the beginning of the year, will hit theaters in Spain on May 24 from Inopia Films.
