Jenkins has commented on Indiewire that ‘Mufasa’ is a very personal film for him and that has seen the animated original over 200 timessince he took great care of his nephews when they were little.

“The script of the movie reminded me of what young people do with their emotions and how they can become great just as they are. It’s a story about how Mufasa rose to royalty. We assume he was born into his lineage, but in reality “Mufasa was an orphaned cub who had to navigate the world alone. By telling this story, we experience the true journey of how Mufasa found his place in the circle of life. Accepting this film is one of the best decisions of my life.”
