A Star Wars mobile game could have shown who would be on the side of the empire and who would be on the side of the rebels
If you’ve ever wondered how many people would support the Empire or to the rebels in Star Wars, now you can know it. In 2014, a free mobile game called Star Wars Commanders, a game like Clash of Clans where we had to choose to handle the Empire or the rebels.
Although the game was closed in 2020, it left us with some of the most curious data, since a year after the launch, it was possible to know the side that users had chosen for each country. With 5 million users, 52.41% had chosen the Empirewhile 47.95% had chosen the Rebel Alliance. The most interesting thing about this was that we could also see this information broken down by country. As seen in the images, users in the vast majority of countries in the northern hemisphere had chosen the empire, while those in the south opted for the rebels.
It is quite curious that there is such a clear division between the two hemispheres. Although the division between the two sides is not very big, it is inevitable to see an imaginary line between the north and the south.

People who in games like star Wars Commander Opting for the empire does not imply that they are compatible with its ideology, many may choose it because they like its design, for pure fun or because it is “the great military power.” The same happens with the Rebels, but it is undeniable that a sociopolitical study could be carried out due to the division that exists in the world regarding this mobile game. Perhaps one of the reasons why the north leans more towards the Empire has to do with the fact that historically the countries in the north have had a past with colonialism and imperialism, while those in the south have dealt with all of this.
