The iconic film franchise Fast and furious (Fast & Furious) has captivated audiences around the world throughout ten exciting installments, where the importance of family and dizzying action sequences dominated the big screen. Now, after the revelation that the last installment of the saga will arrive in 2026, fans will have to be patient to witness its conclusion.

Louis Leterrierrecognized for his direction in The illusionists: Nothing is what it seems (Now You See Me – 2013), was in charge of directing the recent fast and furious 10 (Fast X – 2023). Now, he announced the start of production of the long-awaited finale with these words: “It’s happening. It will happen very, very soon. I’m going to shoot a little horror movie this summer. “I will finish my horror movie on September 15 and start working on Fast on September 16.”

Although production will begin in September of this year, the film will hit theaters a year later than expected. According to the director, “It will be filmed at the beginning of next year and will be released in 2026, which will be exactly the day that marks 25 years since the first one came out”. According to his statements, the eleventh installment would see the light of day in June 2026, marking a significant milestone for fans of the franchise.

Initially scheduled for release in April 2025, the project suffered delays due to actor and writer strikes, giving creatives more time to work on a worthy ending. Furthermore, the budget allocated is lower than usual, at less than 200 million dollars. These setbacks have challenged the team, but have also given them the opportunity to fine-tune the details and ensure that the closure of the saga lives up to fans’ expectations.

Regarding the plot, Leterrier indicated that the closure will be located in the city of Los Angeles, thus returning to the place where it all began, with the aim that Fast and Furious 11 return to its roots and the franchise acquires a circular format. The aim is to simplify the narrative and highlight the action, leaving aside exotic sequences and complex plots. In his own words: “That’s what we want to do. “We want to bring her back home and we still have a great journey to tell.”
