The art of faking chemistry
In a recent interview in Howard Stern show, Blunt shared some reflections on her experience working with different co-stars in romantic scenes, revealing that some of these interactions caused a viscerally negative reaction in her. The British actress, known for her frankness, admitted that, at times, a kiss scene made her feel like she wanted to “vomit”. Although he refrained from naming the specific actors who caused him this reaction, his comments offered a candid look at the emotional complexities that can arise on the film set.
“I wouldn’t say it’s some kind of extreme hatred, but I definitely haven’t enjoyed it… I’ve had chemistry with people I haven’t had a good time working with,” the actress revealed. “Sometimes it’s a strange thing. Sometimes you can have a relationship that’s really easy, but it doesn’t translate on screen. Chemistry is a strange thing. It’s something ethereal that really you can’t repress and buy or sell. It’s like there or not… It’s easier when you have a natural relationship with someone,” he added.
Blunt also discussed how, despite the natural chemistry that can exist between actors off-screen, this doesn’t always translate into a compelling on-screen connection. Comfortable as a superhero
Over the years, the actress has broached the idea of joining some kind of superhero franchise, after she was briefly offered the role of Black Widow in Marvel and the following years of being taken into account for characters like Captain Marvel and Sue Storm. In fact, in a 2021 interview he acknowledged her fervor for wanting her in that type of role, but admitted that it might not be for her.
